Balkan Style Family Meals at Camp Nice 2024

This year at Camp Nice with TheGoodLife! we had the privilege of sharing a slice of our heritage through our love for food.

Balkan Breakfast
We hosted a Balkan-inspired breakfast featuring palačinke, our cherished crepes. These weren’t just any crepes—they were crafted from my grandmother’s recipe, a tradition passed down through generations. Growing up, palačinke was the center piece of countless breakfasts in our home, so bringing them to this beautiful community felt incredibly special.

A Savoury Start to the Day
For the savoury lovers, we offered crepes filled with all the good stuff:

The combination was hearty, flavorful, and the perfect way to fuel a day of Camp Nice adventures!

The Sweet Station Steals the Show
On the sweet side, we brought a taste of nostalgia with Eurocrem, a beloved Balkan staple. If you’re unfamiliar, Eurocrem is a dreamy chocolate hazelnut spread that graces nearly every Balkan household. It’s practically a way of life!

We paired it with specialty jams like plum and apricot, crushed hazelnuts, and a sprinkle of lemon sugar for a zesty twist. Whether you rolled, folded, or stacked your palačinke, the sweet station was a hit with everyone.

Balkan Style Family Dinner

Food has a way of connecting us, not just to each other, but to our roots. For me, it's not just food—rather it's a piece of my family’s story. It was a joy to see people from different walks of life come together, enjoy the flavors, and create new memories.

Family dinners are the heart of Balkan culture—filled with vibrant conversations, hearty dishes, and a sense of togetherness that lingers long after the last bite. We wanted to recreate that atmosphere at Camp Nice, and with a menu of cherished recipes served family-style, it felt like a taste of home.

The Menu
Our dinner was crafted to showcase the richness of Balkan cuisine, with every dish evoking memories of shared meals back home.

We started with kupus salata, a refreshing cabbage salad with a tangy vinaigrette that cleanses the palate and complements every dish on the table. Alongside it were ćevapčići, the iconic Balkan skinless sausages, grilled to perfection. Finally, we served sataraš, a medley of sautéed peppers, tomatoes, and onions that embodies the essence of Balkan home cooking.

Next came krompir paprikaš, a hearty potato and paprika stew featuring our Spicy Balkan Seasoning Zacin Mix and our Paprika Spice . Slow-cooked with love, this dish is comfort food at its finest. The paprika’s smoky aroma and the side of creamy kaymak and homemade bread made it a crowd favorite, offering a taste of the Balkans in every bite.

Thank you, TheGoodLife! and the Camp Nice community, for letting us share this experience with you. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do.

Until next time, keep it spicy!
